South Middleton won the PA District 14 Little League Clarence Boyd Tournament, going 8-1 in the playoffs.
The all-star team, made of 7- and 8-year-olds, beat Northeastern 6-2 in the championship game Tuesday at Newville Little League.
South Middleton’s only loss of the tournament came against Northeastern early in double elimination play. But the team battled back and beat Northeastern in consecutive days (4-0 in the first championship game) to win the title.
“The players from South Middleton were made up of three different Spring season teams but came together a if they’d played together for years,” coach Chris Schaffer said in an email. “It was an amazing experience to watch these kids play their hearts out and give the game everything they could.”
