Instructional Aide Protest 1

Instructional aides from the Carlisle Area School District rallied on the Square in Carlisle on April 5 to protest the proposal to outsource their jobs.

The Carlisle Area School Board on Thursday night approved the outsourcing of educational aides.

The plan is effective May 30.

The board voted 7-1, with Brian J. Guillaume casting the sole dissenting vote. Director Gerald E. Eby did not attend.

The board also directed the administration to re-examine the possibility of setting up a tiered pay structure for the aides who stay with the district through the contractor, ESS, taking into account their years of service with the district.

A proposal to eliminate the German language program at the middle school level was tabled.
