Two separate horse and buggy crashes in the Midstate Sunday night killed one woman and injured three teenage girls.

That same night in Franklin County, three teenagers were flown to Penn State Hershey Medical Center after a horse and buggy crashed with an SUV shortly before 11 p.m. at Paxton Run and Mowersville roads in Lurgan Township, State Police at Chambersburg said.

Police said the buggy pulled in front of the SUV, and the three teen girls, between the ages of 17 and 19, who were in the buggy were flown to Hershey for treatment of moderate to severe injuries. Their names were not released.

The female driver of the SUV was taken to Chambersburg Hospital with minor injuries. The horse was injured but ran away. Neighbors were unable to locate the animal, police said.
