Tractor-trailer driver killed in Saturday crash on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in West Pennsboro Township, police say

One man was killed in a crash involving two tractor-trailers early Saturday morning on the Pennsylvania Turnpike, police said.

The crash occurred at 5 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 76 at mile marker 215.7 in West Pennsboro Township.

Matthew James Firestine, 30, of Newmanstown, was driving a 2018 Volvo tractor trailer and was pronounced dead, according to state police.

Dexter Troy Hall, 43, of Louisville, Kentucky, was driving a 2005 Volvo tractor trailer and was not injured.

Police did not explain the cause of the crash, but said the investigation is ongoing.

The Turnpike was closed until about 2 p.m. near the Blue Mountain interchange for scene reconstruction, police said.

Friendship Hose Company and Pennsylvania Turnpike Newville Maintenance assisted at the scene.
