Carlisle Police (717-243-5252)

  • Isaiah Washington, 38, of Carlisle, was charged with attempted arson, terroristic threats, possession of instrument of crime, recklessly endangering another person, defiant trespass and criminal mischief after an incident at 9:05 a.m. Sept. 6 in the 100 block of West North Street. Police said the homeowner reported that Washington had poured gasoline on the back porch of the home and threatened to light it on fire. Washington was arrested and arraigned. He was released on $9,000 unsecured bail.

State Police at Newport (717-567-3110)

  • Police conducted a DUI checkpoing on Route 11/15 in Penn Twonship at 10 p.m. Aug. 31. About 225 vehicles traveled through the checkpoint - which was unusually high due to a Penn State football game, a local race and a concert. Police made four DUI arrests and two drug-related arrests, as well as issued 17 citations, issued three warnings and served a summary warrant.
