Carlisle Police (717-243-5252)

  • Gurinder Singh, 26, of Carlisle, was charged with a felony count of strangulation and a misdemeanor count of simple assault after police responded to the first block of Noble Boulevard to find a victim with multiple injuries to the arms and legs on Feb.10. Police said the incident stemmed from an early morning altercation in the first block of West Pomfret Street. Further investigation, interviews and physical evidence revealed the victim also had neck injuries as a result of being strangled. Singh was found in the 600 block of North Hanover Street, where he was arrested and taken to Cumberland County Prison where he remains on $50,000 bail.

State Police at Carlisle (717-249-2121)

  • Edward Dean Walker, 22, of Newville, was charged with terroristic threats and simple assault after police said he threatened to kill the victim with a sword and shoved the victim in the chest during an incident on Feb. 5 in the first block of Shag Bark Lane in West Pennsboro Township. He remains in Cumberland County Prison on $5,000 bail.

State Police at Chambersburg (717-264-5161)

  • Five people were taken to Chambersburg Hospital after a crash at 11:56 a.m. Feb. 4. Police said Brian L. Beam, 21 of Chambersburg, was driving a 2014 Chevrolet Camaro north on I-81 in Southampton Township when he attempted to merge onto the off-ramp at Exit 24 and spun out of control. Andrea J. Canant, 30, of Carlisle, was driving a 2008 Nissan north and was unable to stop before hitting Beam’s car. Ashley M. Hunter, 23, of Upper Strasburg, a passenger in Beam’s car was taken to Chambersburg Hospital. Canant and three juvenile passengers in her car were taken to Chambersburg Hospital by Shippensburg EMS for possible injuries.
