State Police at Carlisle provided a few additional details Thursday about a Saint Patrick School parent who accidentally fired a gun Monday evening in the school parking lot, injuring himself.
"The involved subject negligently discharged a round from his pistol into his left hand when he attempted to secure the weapon inside his vehicle," police said in a news release. "The involved subject was transported to (Penn State) Hershey Medical Center for treatment and was released later that night."
A parent “accidentally fired” a gun Monday evening at Saint Patrick School, injuring himself, according to a statement from the school.

A state trooper is still investigating the incident, which occurred at the Catholic school in South Middleton Township. Police did not provide the person's name or say whether the person will face any charges as a result of the incident.
Saint Patrick School officials previously said the incident occurred during a back-to-school night for elementary school parents. The school notified parents of the incident via an email that also thanked first responders and asked for prayers for the injured parent. State police were immediately notified, according to a statement from the Diocese of Harrisburg.
