What started with a vehicle speeding on Route 15 Thursday night in Upper Allen Township ended with two men from York facing charges for drugs, a gun and fleeing police pursuit.

Upper Allen Police said they clocked a vehicle driven by Jason J. Tirado-Cordero, 20, of York, traveling 98 mph on Route 15 in the township around 7:30 p.m. Thursday. When police attempted to stop the vehicle, Tirado-Cordero fled, police said.

During the pursuit, police said a passenger — King McNair, 19 of York — threw a pistol from the vehicle, which was recovered. The chase ended in Harrisburg where police said they searched Tirado-Cordero’s vehicle and marijuana and paraphernalia were seized.

Tirado-Cordero faces charges of fleeing or attempting to elude police, recklessly endangering another person, reckless driving, speeding, and drivers required to be licensed.

McNair faces charges of firearm not to be carried without a license, tampering with evidence, possession of marijuana, and possession of paraphernalia.

Both men were taken to the Cumberland County Prison for processing and arraignment. A preliminary hearing will be held at a later date.

Upper Allen Police were assisted by Camp Hill Police, East Pennsboro Police, West Shore Regional Police and Harrisburg City Police.
