CARLISLE — One person was injured in a tractor-trailer crash on Interstate 81 on Tuesday.

State Police at Carlisle said the incident occurred at mile marker 45 at 8:11 a.m.

Police said Daniel G. Mahon, 38, of Churchville, Virginia, was driving a 2006 Volvo VE tractor-trailer south, attempting to merge into the right lane of travel. The vehicle then went off the road, Mahon lost control, the vehicle went into the median, hit a ditch, slid sideways and crossed into northbound traffic.

The tractor-trailer overturned and slid across the road, coming to rest just off the right shoulder.

Mahon suffered minor injuries and was taken to Carlisle Regional Medical Center by Carlisle Goodwill EMS.

Travel restrictions were in place for several hours while crews cleaned up the crash.

Carlisle Fire and Rescue Services, Union Fire Company, PennDOT and Northridge Group Environmental Services assisted on the scene.
