HARRISBURG — Two people were found dead in what the Dauphin County District Attorney’s Office is calling a murder-suicide.
Susquehanna Township Police identified the two as Kelly Marie Kearn, 40, and Julian Robert Kearn, 50. District Attorney Fran Chardo said Kelly Kearn is from the West Shore, though officials did not specify where on the West Shore, as of Tuesday afternoon. Julian Kearn is from Florida.
Chardo believes the couple was married at one time but have since separated. Though it hadn’t been immediately clear Monday night who shot whom, Chardo said Tuesday it is likely that Julian Kearn shot Kelly and then himself.
Chardo said, “There was a posting by the murderer shortly before or right around the time of the killing that expressed his intent to do this and take his own life.”
The incident happened in the parking lot of Regal Cinemas in Susquehanna Township around 8:45 p.m. Monday. The Associated Press said the two had arrived in separate vehicles.
The theater was open the entire time, but no one else was injured.
Julian Kearn posted the long letter on facebook and Chardo said the public was not in danger. Susquehanna Township police said Kearn lured Kelly to the scene
Chardo said, “They met at the edge of the parking lot to exchange property or something like that and that is when he took violent action against her and then took his own life.”
Police said that when officers arrived, a man and a woman were found dead on the ground from apparent gunshot wounds.
Police said there were no officers on duty at the movie theater as there often are during big events or on the weekends.
