Carlisle Borough Police said Wednesday afternoon they are still searching for two men wanted in connection with a burglary that took place Tuesday night in the borough.
Police officials posted a notice Tuesday night to the department’s Facebook and Twitter social media pages to alert the community that officers were searching the area of the 100 block of West Louther Street to the 100 block of West Locust Street for Kiaire Middleton, 25, and an unknown man.
Police described Middleton as a black man who is about 5-foot-7.
A social media post by police shortly after the incident Tuesday identified Justin Barbour, 23, as a person of interest in the case. Carlisle Police Sgt. David Miller said Wednesday that Barbour had been ruled out as a suspect and police were working to identify the other man.
Charges against Middleton were pending, Miller said.
Police first reported the incident as a robbery Tuesday, but changed the description Tuesday night to a burglary of a residence in the area.
In general, a robbery involves someone taking something from a victim directly by force or threat of harm, while a burglary, in broad terms, involves someone breaking into a building with the intent to commit a crime, like theft.
The victim does not have to be present during a burglary, but by definition must be present during a robbery.
Police said anyone who sees the men should not confront them, but should call Carlisle police at 717-243-5252.
