Update: As of Noon, Interstate 81 was reopened and traffic was moving smoothly in the Carlisle area, according to the 511PA traffic information website.
A multi-vehicle crash Thursday morning has closed a portion of Interstate 81 north of Carlisle.
The interstate was closed between Exit 52A (Route 11 North - New Kingstown) and Exit 57 (Route 114 - Mechanicsburg) as of 8:52 a.m., according to PennDOT's 511PA traffic information website. All lanes were closed because of the multi-vehicle crash.

The website also showed stop-and-go traffic south of the crash in the Carlisle area.
The five-point intersection of West Street, Willow Street and Walnut Bottom Road in Carlisle could be the future site of a roundabout.
Fox43 is reporting, based on emergency dispatch communications, that one person was taken to a hospital with unknown injuries.
