CHAMBERSBURG — Closing arguments are scheduled Tuesday in the trial of a West Virginia man accused of gunning down a motorist on Interstate 81 more than 5½ years ago.

PennLive.com reports that defense attorneys for John Strawser Jr., 42, of Terra Alta presented no evidence after prosecutors rested their case.

Prosecutors in Franklin County charged Strawser with first-degree murder in the January 2014 death of 28-year-old Timothy Davison.

Police say Davison was driving home to Maine when a pickup truck driver started firing at him, rammed his SUV, forcing it onto a median, and then circled back and shot him again.

Two ex-friends said Strawser had threatened them and they were driving in a similar vehicle on I-81. The defense has questioned why it took them 16 months to come forward.
