John Graham Library

John Graham Library is on Parsonage Street in Newville.

The Friends of the John Graham Library will hold its annual Mother’s Day plant sale Friday and Saturday.

The sale will run from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the library.

Both days will feature sales of flowers and vegetable plants. Mix and match flats will be available for $15.

The sale will also offer creative arrangements in new and old containers like buckets, baskets, colanders, lunch boxes and even a car muffler.

Sedums and succulents are also highlighted at this year’s sale, and representatives from the Cumberland County Master Gardener program will be on hand to answer home gardening questions.

Friday evening’s sale will feature a soup and sandwich supper with entertainment by Lane Whigham from 5 to 7 p.m. Whigham’s career started with a series of rock bands in high school and led to appearances in clubs and coffeehouses throughout the area as a solo acoustic artist and as a member of several electric blues bands. He is recording his second studio album, due to be released in the fall.

Saturday’s event includes breakfast and a bake sale, as well as free children’s crafts and a free Mother’s Day planting activity for children.
