Due to an unanticipated delay in proposed campground rehabilitation project work, the Colonel Denning Campground, which was scheduled to close after the Labor Day Weekend, will remain open through the last day of rifle deer season on Dec. 10, the State Department of Conservation & Natural Resources announced in a news release Friday.
The project is now scheduled to begin in late December, and the campground will be closed for the entire 2018 camping season. Updates for availability will be made as the project is finalized.
The park is open every day of the year, sunrise to sunset. The park is eight miles north of Newville on Route 233. Contact the park office for facility seasons and hours at 717-776-5272.
