The Salvation Army of Carlisle plans to put some of its thrift store’s fashion on display.
The organization will host the “Carlisle Catwalk” from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 19 at the Dickinson College Holland Student Union Building at 28 N. College St.
The inaugural event, sponsored by Mowery, includes a fashion show featuring ensembles from the Salvation Army’s local thrift store, a silent auction and a live auction. Margee Ensign, president of Dickinson College, will be the guest speaker, and Dottie Warner, director of event planning and Holland Union Building at Dickinson College, will serve as emcee.
All proceeds from the Carlisle Catwalk will benefit the Salvation Army of Carlisle’s Pathway of Hope initiative.
Pathway of Hope focuses on the long-term goal of self-sufficiency of impoverished families, intended to break the cycle of crisis and intergenerational poverty. Families in the program work with a Salvation Army case manager for social and spiritual support. They will also be connected with services for jobs, health, housing, childcare, education and legal services.
Tickets to the Carlisle Catwalk are $25 and can be purchased by calling Lauren Sheeler at the Salvation Army of Carlisle: (717) 249-1411, ext. 122.
