Additional discussions on the Carlisle rental ordinance are on the agenda for the borough council workshop meeting Wednesday.

The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. at the borough hall, 53 W. South St.

The council discussed the rental ordinance at the January workshop with an eye to updating the 8-year-old ordinance now that its has been in use. One idea under consideration is that of mandatory inspections of rental units, which is a provision of similar ordinances in other area municipalities.

Under the current Carlisle ordinance, rental units must be registered with the borough and include information about the unit and its occupancy, as well as contact information for the landlord in case of emergency. Landlords who do not live within a 25-mile radius of the county courthouse must provide the information of a resident agent.

Inspections by the borough are available, upon request, to ensure that the property complies with all applicable codes, but are not mandatory.

The complete agenda can be seen below.
