Pierce Brosnan will be the Dickinson College commencement speaker in May.

Actor Pierce Brosnan will deliver Dickinson College’s commencement address on May 19, the college announced Wednesday.

Brosnan, a two-time Golden Globe Aware nominee best known for portraying James Bond, is also an environmental activist and will receive an honorary doctor of environmental advocacy degree.

He will also accept this year’s Sam Rose ‘58 and Julie Walters Prize at Dickinson College for Global Environmental Activism, whose recipient will be the Natural Resources Defense Council. Brosnan is a long-time supporter of the council and winner of its 2015 Forces for Nature Award. He will be joined in accepting it with the council’s senior attorney Joel Reynolds.

Other honorary degree recipients this year are Karen Attiah, global opinions editor for the Washington Post, and Adrian Zecha, a 1952 Dickinson graduate and one of the world’s leading creators and operators of luxury hotels and resorts.

Attiah will receive an honorary doctor of journalism, and Zecha will receive an honorary doctor of international business.
