Cumberland County commissioners have named Danny Osten director of veterans affairs.
Serving the county’s 22,000 veterans, Osten is charged with advocating for veterans and their families for federal, state and county benefits and services.
Osten, who is a trained nurse, served as the Pennsylvania veterans services coordinator for the American Legion in Wormlesyburg and a Risk Management and quality assurance coordinator for the Turning Point Alcohol and Drug Treatment Center in Franklin County.

“It is my charge to help connect our veterans to the services they need,” Osten said. “Getting through all the information needed to get benefits they need and deserve can be difficult. We are to help.”
Osten served in the U.S. Navy as a flight deck coordinator in the Persian Gulf prior to the Iraqi invasion.
