About 50 people attended a “Rally to Stop Brett Kavanaugh” on the Square in Carlisle Wednesday evening.
The event was one of nearly 200 events planned across the country for Oct. 3 to “demand that the U.S. Senate stop Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination for a lifetime appointment to the Supreme Court,” according to the #StopKavanaugh Vigil website.

Carlisle’s rally started coming together about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday when one of the organizers, Pat LaMarche, visited the website and found there was nothing planned for this area. She reached out to a few others, including borough councilman Sean Crampsie, who helped get the ball rolling.
“I think that there’s a vast outpouring of people that find Kavanaugh to be an illegitimate and inappropriate candidate for the Supreme Court,” LaMarche said.
