Carlisle’s annual fireworks festivities are growing.
“Stars Burst Over Carlisle Festival & Fireworks, sponsored by Orrstown Bank,” will be held at the Carlisle Fairgrounds July 3 from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Admission to the fairgrounds for the fireworks and festival will be $5 per car and $1 per walk in.
“We are proud to be able to pull the community and corporate sponsors together each year and celebrate our great nation’s founding with this fireworks display,” Carlisle Mayor Tim Scott said. “We are especially excited this year as the event has grown and many family features have been added.”
The festival opens with food trucks, a children’s area full of inflatables and activities, and a beer and wine garden. Live music from modern bluegrass band Colebrook Road will start at 5 p.m., and country artists Cold Springs Union will start at 7 p.m. DJ’s will play dance and country line dancing music between sets.
Those who have enjoyed the traditional Summerfair Tractor Twang line dancing won’t be forgotten among the new activities. The line dancing will be held from 4 to 5:30 p.m. and again from 7 to 7:45 p.m.
The Carlisle Craft Alliance, a group of local breweries, distilleries and other beverage makers, will be on-site to sell beer and other beverages, as well as promote the craft beer market in Carlisle. Market Cross Pub and Brewery, Molly Pitcher Brewing, Burd’s Nest Brewing Co., Desperate Times Brewing Co., Grand Illusion and Castlerigg Wine Bar will be on-site.
“We have a great group of brewers in Carlisle all making great product. We are very excited to be a part of this event,” said Chad Kimmel, owner of Grand Illusion Wine & Cider Bar.
The night ends at 9:35 p.m. with a 25-minute fireworks show launched from the highest point in the fairgrounds and featuring more than 8,200 aerial and ground display shells. New this year is a music soundtrack of country and rock Americana that will be broadcast from the Carlisle Events fairgrounds stage and be choregraphed to the fireworks.
Rain date for the fireworks will be July 4.
Applications are being accepted for food trucks, corporate sponsors and downtown Carlisle merchants at the website, www.StarsBurstOverCarlisle.com.
“We are very excited to celebrate Orrstown Bank’s 100th Anniversary with them and their Mayor’s Circle sponsorship, but there are still critical donors who stepped up and made this happen including: Eckert Seamans, Don Mowery, Tuckey Co., The Carlisle Sentinel, Carlisle Eagles Post 1299, Tree of Life Church, CAM-TEK Systems, Red 102.3, and the Downtown Carlisle Association. A big thank you goes to our host sponsor, Carlisle Events and Bill and Lance Miller, who allow this event to happen on their property,” Scott said.
The borough has been teaming with the Downtown Carlisle Association the past three years to help develop the event, secure sponsorships, advertising, production and public safety measures.
