A special premiere screening of the Laurel and Hardy biopic "Stan and Ollie" will benefit Community CARES in January.
Community CARES Thursday announced that Sony Pictures Classic donated a film for the second year in a row to raise money for the nonprofit emergency homeless shelter.
The film will premiere at 7 p.m. Jan. 17, 2019, at Carlisle Theatre, 40 W. High St., Carlisle.
Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the door, and admission includes hors d'oeuvres, a complimentary local beer/wine or soda and a reception at 6 p.m.
The movie stars Steve Coogan and John C. Reilly as the comedic duo, and recently earned Reilly a Golden Globe nomination for his role.
“The movie will be shown before it hits the theaters in the United States. This is a special opportunity for CARES and for the Cumberland County Region,” said Jim Sniscak, a board member for Community CARES, who helped obtain the film.
Members of Community CARES suggest the local premiere as a holiday gift for family members. Anyone who buys their tickets early will also get a holiday card with the ticket.
Tickets can be ordered online at www.morethanshelter.org or purchased at the Carlisle Theatre Box Office.
