West North Street and Franklin Street

Carlisle Borough Council approved an ordinance Thursday that will eliminate parking on a section of West North Street.

The ordinance prohibits parking on the north side of the street within 60 feet of West North Street's intersection with Franklin Street.

The change comes after residents raised concerns about the speed of drivers traveling from College Street to Cherry Street and poor sight lines for drivers trying to turn out from Franklin Street onto West North Street.

The borough also enacted an ordinance to make the stop sign recently installed at the intersection of South College and Walnut streets official.

PennDOT has also removed the electronic warning signs that had been put up to warn drivers of the new stop signs. The blinking lights on top of the signs will remain in place for another month, according to the borough.
