HARRISBURG — A Pennsylvania representative has introduced legislation to make flu shots and other immunizations more affordable and accessible.
House Bill 822 would amend state law so that health insurers are required to cover immunizations administered by a pharmacist, according to sponsor Rep. Maria Donatucci (D-Philadelphia/Delaware).
Donatucci said because immunizations are not required to be covered by health insurance, many Pennsylvanians delay being vaccinated, or even avoid getting vaccinated altogether.
She said if health insurance companies are required to cover immunizations, Pennsylvanians would be better protected against the flu and other dangerous illnesses.
House Bill 822 has been referred to the House Insurance Committee.
