When is South Sporting Hill Road going to be paved?
Pennsylvania American Water performed construction work on a stretch of South Sporting Hill Road last fall as part of a $1.2 million water main replacement project.
While the project is finished, paving is still in progress on the section of South Sporting Hill Road between Carlisle Pike and East Trindle Road in Hampden Township.
“The base and trench paving are complete,” said Susan Turcmanovich, an external affairs manager for Pennsylvania American Water, in an email. “The final overlay will be scheduled in May or June depending on contractor availability. Once it’s scheduled, we will notify residents.”
That accords with the timeline Pennsylvania American Water gave in October, when it said final paving was scheduled for May 2019.
The underlying project replaced aging pipe from the 1950s with 4,300 feet of new 12-inch ductile iron pipe. Pennsylvania American Water has said the pipe replacements will improve service reliability.
