May 17 is National Bike to Work Day. A study by American Community Survey estimates that 872,000 people – 0.6% of workers in the United States – bike to work. Most of these are younger workers (ages 16-24), with the highest percentages living in cities. More men commute to work by bicycle (628,000) than women (244,000).
