Ron, or Pap-Pap as he was more commonly called, was a quiet, kind, big-hearted, thoughtful man who was devoted to serving those he loved. He especially loved to cook. His specialties were ribs, carrot cake and breakfast for his grandchildren. He was a self-taught expert in matters of meteorology and geography (he would read a road atlas cover to cover and knew every road sign from here to New Hampshire), and was a fierce competitor in family card games, where he was frequently accused, but never caught, bending the rules a bit. He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life—family, outdoors, sports. He was quite an athlete in his younger days, an avid golfer, and was a fan of sports at all levels. He especially loved watching his grandchildren compete and became somewhat of a field hockey “super fan”. He had a sharp sense of humor and enjoyed teasing youngsters at family gatherings and reunions. We will miss him dearly.
