Roberta P. Graff of Green Ridge Village, Newville, died peacefully in her sleep on March 6, 2019. She was born March 27, 1925 in Mt. Vernon, IL to Charles and Amy Stocker. She lived there until 1934, when she moved with her mother and brother to Highland, IL. After graduating from Highland public schools and attending the University of Illinois, she married William A. Graff of Highland on April 7, 1945. In 1949, they moved to Cleveland, OH, residing in northeast Ohio for 38 years, mostly in Willoughby, before retiring to Seven Lakes, NC. In 1999 they relocated to Green Ridge Village.
Although she claimed her “career” was that of a wife and mother, she was an active volunteer, participating in numerous school, youth, and church-related organizations, as well as the League of Women Voters and PEO. At the time of her death, she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Carlisle and an active member of the Green Ridge Community.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William and is survived by her children, A. Steven and Janet Graff of Falls Church, VA, and Trudy and Bruce Bailey of Carlisle; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; as well as brother and sister-in-law, James A. and Sandra Partridge of Davenport, IA.
A service of remembrance and thanksgiving will be held at 2 p.m., April 15, at the First Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 2A N. Hanover St., Carlisle, PA 17013 or Green Ridge Village Auxiliary, 210 Big Spring Rd., Newville, PA 17241.
