Joseph John (“Joe”) Mihalich, II died peacefully on November 21, 2019 at the age of 84. Joe is survived by his wife of 58 years, Phyllis (Weary) Mihalich of Mechanicsburg, PA; his daughter Avice (Steve) Alderfer of Albuquerque, NM; his daughter Kelli (Dave) Reed of Hanover, PA; and his grandchildren Kelsey Alderfer, Stefani Alderfer, and Adam Reed. Joe was born on April 9, 1935 in Carlisle, PA to Bertha (Weigle) and Joseph John Mihalich. He graduated from Carlisle High School in 1954. Joe served in the United States Army from 1958 through 1963. Joe worked at C.H. Masland and Sons, Penn National Insurance, and The Ohio Casualty Insurance Company. Joe played sports in high school and continued to be an avid sports fan his entire life. Joe liked to read and served as a wealth of knowledge in many subjects. Joe was a past member of West Shore Elks Lodge and an active and dedicated member of St. Mark Lutheran Church for over 45 years. Joe was a loving husband, father, grandfather, friend, and all around “swell guy”. He will be sorely missed. A memorial service is scheduled for December 7 at 11:30 a.m. (visitation starting at 10) at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 117 W. Keller Street, Mechanicsburg, PA. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Joe’s life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Mark Lutheran Church or Hospice of Central Pennsylvania c/o Carolyn’s House at 1701 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, PA.
