Film to premiere in Carlisle
“Stan & Ollie” will premiere in Carlisle during a special screening that will benefit Community CARES.
Sony Picture Classics donated the screening of the movie for the nonprofit’s first fundraiser of the year. The screening will start with a special reception at 6 p.m. before the 7 p.m. film premiere on Thursday, Jan. 17, at the Carlisle Theatre, 40 W. High St.
“The movie will be shown before it hits most of the theaters in the United States. This is a special opportunity for CARES and for the Cumberland County region,” said Jim Sniscak, a board member for Community CARES, and the one responsible for obtaining the film.
“It is also an ideal opportunity for people who wish to kick off the year by giving back to those in need,” CARES Executive Director Beth Kempf said in a news release. “By purchasing a ticket, you are raising money for many people who are experiencing homelessness.”
Advance tickets purchased before Jan. 16 cost $25. Tickets at the door will be $30. Admission will cover a reception that will include hors d’oeuvres, an alcoholic or soda beverage, a Laurel and Hardy photo booth and the film screening.
The movie centers around the famous comedy duo as they work to reignite their film careers.
