Giant to acquire Musser’s Markets
Giant Food Stores announced Aug. 19 that it entered into an agreement with Musser’s Markets to acquire its three Pennsylvania locations in Columbia, Lebanon and Quarryville.
The sale is expected to be completed by the end of October. Upon completion, the stores will temporarily be closed for about one week for a remodel.
Musser’s Markets said in a news release that the decision was based on changes in the industry, loss of its cooperative wholesaler (AWI), customer buying habits, online pressure and competition in the Lancaster and Lebanon areas. Musser’s Markets had been operating for 94 years.
