Dickinson College wins award

Dickinson College was recognized with the 2019 Senator Paul Simon Award for Comprehensive Internationalization, becoming the first college in the country to receive the award twice—the college having received it in 2003 as the inaugural recipient.

This year’s winners were announced March 12 by NAFSA: Association for International Educators, the world’s largest nonprofit association dedicated to international education.

“We are committed to creating a global community on campus, in Carlisle and at our partner sites abroad. We work to build communities of very different people where everyone has a voice, a wide variety of viewpoints can be shared, and we can all challenge our assumptions and worldviews and learn from each other,” Dickinson President Margee M. Ensign said in a news release. “We are building a campus-wide institutional structure that incorporates diversity and inclusion work with intercultural competence training and ethical reasoning. ‘Internationalization’ is basic to this process. The importance of internationalization—at a time when lack of knowledge of other countries and societies is a national security issue—can’t be overstated.”

Dickinson’s Center for Global Study & Engagement (CGSE)—the hub of internationalization— supports education abroad as well as international and exchange students and visiting scholars. International enrollment has grown from roughly 5 percent in 2003 to more than 14 percent now.

PSECU wins digital awards

Pennsylvania’s largest credit union, PSECU, was recently named among the winners of the 2019 international AVA Digital Awards for its marketing projects. Selected from 2,500 entries from 25 countries, PSECU earned a total of four awards—two at both the platinum and gold levels.

PSECU was honored for all four of the entries it submitted, with platinum awards for its blog content and recent corporate website rewrite, and gold awards for its efforts on Facebook and projects related to its newly updated mobile application.

The competition is administered by the Association of Marketing and Communications Professionals.
