BOWIE, MD — The Harrisburg Senators knocked off the Bowie Baysox 4-0 in game three of their season opening series at Prince George’s Stadium. The Senators scored all four runs over the first two innings and starter Logan Darnell tossed five scoreless innings en route to the shutout win.
The Senators opened the scoring in the top of the first against Bowie starter Keegan Akin with three consecutive two out doubles from Jacob Wilson, Dan Gamache and Kelvin Gutierrez to score two and put the club ahead 2-0.
The team doubled that total with another pair of runs in the second when Khayyan Norfork launched an opposite field two-run home run to right field to expand the advantage to 4-0.
Darnell (1-0) stymied the Baysox, working five shutout innings while allowing just three baserunners on three hits in his first start as a Senator. Relievers Derek Self and Austen Williams combined to allow just two baserunners over the final four innings to complete the Senators’ first shutout victory of the season.
Akin (0-1) suffered the loss after allowing four runs in four innings.
Norfork paced the Senators by reaching base three out of his four trips and recording a team-high two RBI and both Wilson and Daniel Johnson finished with a pair of hits.
The Senators try for the series win on Sunday afternoon in the final game of the set. Senators starter Luis Reyes makes his first start at double-A opposite Baysox starter Christian Binford. First pitch is scheduled for 1:35 p.m. from Prince George’s Stadium.
