HARRISBURG — Kyle Martin hit a grand slam in the fifth inning, and Ranger Suarez struck out 10 hitters over eight innings as the Reading Fightin Phils beat the Harrisburg Senators 6-0 on Monday.
The grand slam by Martin scored Zach Coppola, Malquin Canelo, and Damek Tomscha and was the game's last scoring play.
Suarez (1-1) allowed six hits to pick up the win.
Wirkin Estevez (0-1) went 4.1 innings, allowing six runs and seven hits in the Eastern League game. He also struck out six and walked four.
For the Senators, Hunter Jones singled three times, also stealing a base. Harrisburg was blanked for the first time this season, while the Reading staff also registered its first shutout of the year.
