ALTOONA — The Harrisburg Senators edged the Altoona Curve 2-1 in the road trip finale Wednesday night at PNG Field.
Senators starter Brady Dragmire tossed six shutout innings to earn his first win of the season.
The Senators opened the scoring in the top of the first after the first two batters were retired by Altoona starter J.T. Brubaker. With two outs, Jacob Wilson singled and the next batter, Dan Gamache, doubled him home to put the Senators ahead 1-0.
The Senators tacked on their final run of the game in the second on a run scoring double play by Osvaldo Abreu, making it 2-0.
Brubaker (0-1) took the loss despite allowing just the couple of runs along with six hits over five innings.
Dragmire (1-0) tossed six innings of shutout baseball, limiting the Curve to just five hits and a walk. The right-hander has allowed just one earned run in 11 and two thirds innings to start the year.
The Curve scored their lone run in the eighth on a Cole Tucker RBI double, however Tucker was thrown out trying to stretch the hit into a triple by second baseman Jacob Wilson.
Derek Self allowed one hit but struck out the side in the ninth to seal the 2-1 victory and notch his first save of the season.
Taylor Gushue and Dan Gamache each finished with a pair of hits for the Senators. Gamache has had multiple hits in four of the first six games of the season and is 10 for 22 (.455) overall.
The Senators return home for opening night Friday at 7 against the Bowie Baysox.
