READING — Deivi Grullon hit a three-run home run in the fifth inning, leading the Reading Fightin Phils to a 3-1 win over the Harrisburg Senators on Friday.

The home run by Grullon scored Damek Tomscha and Drew Stankiewicz to break a scoreless tie.

Harrisburg answered in the next half-inning when Jake Lowery hit an RBI single, bringing home Dan Gamache to get within two.

Harrisburg missed an additional scoring opportunity in the sixth, when Victor Robles struck out with the bases loaded to end the inning.

Reading left-hander Elniery Garcia (2-0) picked up the win after allowing one run on just five hits over 5 1/3 innings. Opposing starter Taylor Hill (4-6) took the loss in the Eastern League game after giving up three runs and six hits over 6 2/3 innings. Jeff Singer pitched two scoreless innings for his second save of the season.

Reading improved to 9-3 against Harrisburg this season.
