TRENTON, N.J. — Abiatal Avelino homered and had three hits, and Erik Swanson allowed just four hits over seven innings as the Trenton Thunder topped the Harrisburg Senators 9-0 on Friday.
Swanson (5-0) picked up the win after he struck out five and walked two.
Trenton started the scoring in the first inning when Avelino hit a solo home run.
It later scored in three additional innings to finish off the shutout, including a four-run second.
Jefry Rodriguez (1-3) went 2.2 innings, allowing eight runs and eight hits in the Eastern League game. He also struck out two and walked three.
For the Senators, Daniel Johnson singled twice, also stealing a base. Harrisburg was held off the scoreboard for the third time this season, while the Trenton staff recorded its fourth shutout of the year.
With the win, Trenton improved to 4-1 against Harrisburg this season.
