MILWAUKEE, WI — Wayne Simpson scored his first goal, but the Hershey Bears fell to the Milwaukee Admirals, 4-1, on Friday night at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena. The loss dropped the Bears to 0-3-0-1 while the Admirals improved to 4-0-0-0.
Milwaukee's red-hot power play opened the scoring just 7:02 into Saturday's game. Tyler Kelleher scored his fourth goal of the season on a quick passing play. Trevor Smith fed a pass from behind the Hershey net to Kelleher at the top of the crease. He one-timed a shot past the right pad of Hershey goaltender Parker Milner to make it 1-0 Milwaukee.
Hershey responded at 10:58 on Wayne Simpson's first goal as a member of the Chocolate and White. After the Bears killed a minor penalty, Simpson intercepted a pass at the red line and charged ahead into the Milwaukee zone. He skated in towards the top of the right faceoff circle and snapped a shot that beat Anders Lindback past the blocker to make it 1-1.
In the second period, both teams traded chances, but the lone goal came from Milwaukee. Tyler Moy was credited with the goal, redirecting a Yakov Trenin shot past the pad of Milner to make it 2-1 at 13:51.
The Admirals would score twice more in the third period. First it was Vladislav Kamenev converting on a give-and-go at 1:31, then Harry Zolnierczyk scoring into an empty net at 17:41.
Hershey went 0-for-5 on the power play while Milwaukee was 1-for-7. The Bears were outshot 25-17 and only fired three shots in the third period.
Friday's game was Hershey's first visit to Milwaukee since the 2006 Calder Cup Finals. Hershey won the series, 4-2, to claim the franchise's ninth Calder Cup.
