As the Mechanicsburg girls soccer team rolled to a rout of Middletown, the Wildcats helped their long-time coach reach a milestone.
Tony Lougee, in his 20th and final season as the girls head coach, earned his 200th victory in the Wildcats’ 10-1 blowout at Middletown. Lougee’s record is currently 200-148-21, and he’s coached the ‘Cats to a Keytsone Division title, five striaght trips to the District 3 tournament and a pair of PIAA tournament berths.
The coach was quick to credit his players and school.
“Glad Mechanicsburg has let me coach this long,” Lougee said. “I’m just thankful for the chance to be able to coach the girls for another season. Always been such a good time. They’re such great kids. I’m more excited about that than anything.”
Holly Burgard scored four times on eight shots on goal and added an assist. Natalie Zelenky scored a pair of goals and added three assists, Meghan Ross scored a pair of goals and Hannah Mallets scored a goal and an assist. Ally Powell scored the final goal for the Wildcats.
The Wildcats (1-0, 1-0 Keystone) host Susquehanna Twp. Thursday.
Red Land 6, Central Dauphin 1
Freshman Bryce Watts scored a hat trick in the Patriots’ rout of the Rams.
Brittany Wentzel, Chelsea Flower and Betsy Waite each scored a goal for Red Land. Watts scored two by heading corner kicks from Kaylee Harner.
Emmie Santolari and Waite each had an assist.
Red Land (3-0) hosts Cumberland Valley Thursday at 3:45 in a critical Commonwealth match.
West Perry 7, Milton Hershey 1
Felicia Cramer scored a natural hat trick in the Mustangs’ rout of Milton Hershey.
Alyse and Erica Hile each had a goal and an assist. Shyanne Ward scored a pair, and Tessa Reisinger and Caitlyn Lavenberg each had an assist.
West Perry (2-1, 1-0 Capital) hosts Camp Hill Thursday.
Conestoga Christian 4, Bible Baptist 2
The Bobcats fell to Conestoga Christian and Leah Egolf’s three goals of the night.
Bible Baptist’s Lizzy Tonkin and Olivia Jackson scored the two unassisted goals.
Bible Baptist (0-2 CCAC) plays Lancaster County Christian Friday at 4.
Gettysburg 10, Shippensburg 0
Rachel Lyon scored a natural hat trick in Gettysburg’s rout of Shippensburg. Meagen Hill aslo scored a hat trick for the Warriors.
Shippensburg (0-2, 0-1 Colonial) hosts Waynesboro Thursday.
Big Spring 3, James Buchanan 1
The Bulldogs and Rockets played tight through the first half as Big Spring took a 1-0 lead into the break. Rylee Bucher had the only tally of the half for the Bulldogs.
Lydia George scored twice in the second for the Bulldogs to lead Big Spring to the win. Goalie Nicole Burkett made five stops for the Bulldogs.
Big Spring (1-1-1, 1-0 Colonial Div.) hosts Gettysburg Thursday at 4.
Trinity 2, East Pennsboro 1
Trinity holds on to a two goal lead at half-time to beat East Pennsboro.
Maggie McLaughlin scored both goals for the Shamrocks with the first assisted by Trisha Clark.
The Panthers’ goal was scored by Courtney Andrews.
Trinity (1-0) play Conrad Weiser today at 7.
