Penn State announced its depth chart Tuesday as the 2017 season is now just a few days away.
Here are the starters:
The offense is highlighted by returning breakout stars Trace McSorley (jr. quarterback) and early Heisman Trophy contender Saquon Barkley (jr. running back). McSorley's top targets include senior receiver DaeSean Hamilton, sophomore pass catcher Juwan Johnson and junior WR DeAndre Thompkins. That group will pair with talented tight end Mike Gesicki, a senior largely considered one of the best in the nation at his position.
The offensive line includes sophomores Ryan Bates (left tackle), Steven Gonzalez (left guard) and Connor McGovern (center), junior right tackle Chasz Wright and senior right guard Brendan Mahon.
On the defensive line are ends Shareef Miller (so.) and Torrence Brown (jr.), with tackles Curtis Cothran (sr.) and Parker Cothren (sr.). The linebackers include junior Manny Bowen, senior Jason Cabinda and junior Koa Farmer.
In the backfield are senior corners Christian Campbell and Grant Haley, and behind them are senior safeties Marcus Allen and Troy Apke.
Senior Tyler Davis will start at kicker, and sophomore Blake Gillikin grabbed the starting punter job.
