Shippensburg track and field is sending eight athletes to the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships, which will be held May 24-26 in Charlotte, North Carolina. Seven of them are returning qualifies. The list includes: redshirt-senior Danielle Sciremammano (100 hurdles, long jump), senior Crystal Hartman (javelin), senior Kali Hepner (pole vault), redshirt-junior Abby Wagner (triple jump), senior Tra-C Davis (high jump), senior Bryan Pearson (discus) and sophomore Ben Hurda (javelin).
Ship U's field hockey's Mikayla Cheney and Ally Mooney were also selected Tuesday for USA Field Hockey's Young Women's National Championship training squad. They are among 70 athletes vying for selection onto the team, which could include selection onto the U-21 women's national team, women's national development squad and the women's national team.
Messiah's Leanne Weaver (Boiling Springs) ran a PR of 2:10.97 in the 800 at yesterday's Swarthmore Final Qualifier Meet. Her teammate, Benjamin Schott, set a school and MAC Conference record of 8:58.50 in the 3000 steeplechase.
Dickinson also had a few top performances at Swarthmore. Bryce Descavish came in second in the 5000 (14:30.46), Natalie Suess finished second in the 400 (58.32) and Sofia Canning ran 17:05.38 in the 5000 for third.
Carlisle grad JD Hughes shot a 3-over 74 at the NCAA Regional tournament at Columbus, Ohio, sliding a bit to 17th individual at 3-over through two rounds. His Penn State squad is in sixth at 20-over.
