  • Shippensburg baseball extended its season for at least one more game with a 10-5 win over Mercyhurst in an PSAC Championship elimination game Friday. The Raiders will face Seton Hill at 12:30 Saturday in an elimination semifinal. Andy Crum fired 6.2 innings, striking out seven, to get the win. Leadoff hitter Cash Gladfelter (2-for-5) ripped a two-run inside-the-park home run in the fourth inning to cap off a four-run frame that bumped SU's lead to 6-1.
  • Messiah softball dropped its NCAA Division III Tournament opener 13-3 against Christopher Newport, setting up Saturday's consolation game at 3:30. Haylee Anders went 2-for-3 with three RBIs in the five-inning loss.
  • Messiah men's tennis fell 5-0 to Goucher in the Falcons' fifth straight NCAA Division III Tournament appearance.
  • Penn State-Altoona was knocked out of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Tournament 8-4 by Penn State-Behrend. Boiling Springs' grad Hunter Breon went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored.
  • Shippensburg pitcher Zack Sims (Middletown) was named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District Division II Baseball Team on Friday with a 3.67 GPA in entrepreneurship and finance. Junior designated hitter Jack Goertzen (3.94 GPA in biology) also made the team. The Raiders' Tara Bicko (softball outfielder) also was honored — she has a 3.80 GPA in exercise science.
