Penn State running back Saquon Barkley received Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week for his performances against Nebraska. This is Barkley’s sixth Big Ten weekly award of the season and fourth offensive honor of the season. Barkley registered 158 rushing yards, 66 receiving yards for 224 all-purpose yards and a trio of running scores in the win over Nebraska, and broke the 46-year-old Penn State career rushing touchdowns record of 38.
Penn State running back Saquon Barkley has been named a finalist for the Maxwell Award and the Doak Walker Award, while tight end Mike Gesicki was named a finalist for the Mackey Award, both of which will be announced at the ESPN Home Depot College Football Award Show in Atlanta on Dec. 7.
Shippensburg women’s basketball player Ariel Jones was named PSAC East Women’s Basketball Freshman of the Week. Jones averaged 20.5 points per game and shot 65 percent from the field including 4-of-5 (80 percent) from three-point range. Jones scored a career-high 28 points on 9-of-11 shooting and added five steals against Edinboro on Sunday.
