• Dillon Novak spent the previous three seasons watching as former Trinity star Bradley Buchter broke record after record and swept the District 3 and PIAA diving championships for four years. But the Big Spring senior finally got his shot to prove himself Wednesday, dominating the District 3 Class 2A Diving Championships with a 482.40 to win by more than 130 points and once again advance to the PIAA championships at Bucknell University in mid-March. Novak, who finished second at states behind Buchter last season, will be joined by teammate Shannon McCabe at states, after McCabe finished second in the girls competition with a 389.80.
  • In all, four locals will make the trip north for the two day Class 2A swimming and diving championships. McCabe got the final girls' spot out of District 3, finishing behind West York's Erica Sarver (428.05). Locals made up all three boys qualifiers, with Trinity's Riley Spahr (348.35) and Boiling Springs' Jack Still (330.70) finishing second and third, respectively, on Wednesday.
