I never thought the day would actually come where I would be playing my last high school basketball game ever, but it did.
Friday night was my last time on the court with my amazing team. The game came down to the last second, but it just wasn’t enough. The emotions that everyone felt, especially the six seniors, was very strong. After the game, you could hear a pin drop in the locker room because we had nothing to say. We just sat in silence reflecting on the last four years and how this was the end of the road. It hurt a lot to think that our season ended there when we had high expectations for ourselves to make a great run.
Nothing could of prepared us for the moment when the last buzzer rang and we didn’t come out on top.
In saying all of that, this team has been the strongest one yet. A lot of us have been playing together for the last eight years and we have made amazing memories. Memories with basketball and without basketball, memories that we will always look back on and laugh about.
I am very grateful that this was not my last basketball game ever. For the longest time I didn’t know if I wanted to play at the next level, but looking back now I’m very glad that I made the decision that I did. Basketball has been apart of me for a very long time and I couldn’t let it end here.
