After suffering a tough loss to Bishop McDevitt last week, we were ready to bounce back this week.
After that loss, we took a step back as a team and looked deeper into the games we lost so far this year. We realized that every game that we lost we had one bad quarter. It doesn’t sound like such a big deal because there are three other quarters in a basketball game, but when it’s two tough teams battling against each other sometimes it comes down to every quarter or even every possession.
Keeping this in mind, on Saturday we tried to win every quarter against Lampeter-Strasburg. This mindset paid off for us because we came out on top in the end. Like I said before, any team in our league can suffer a loss on any given night because of how tough our league is.
We knew that Mechanicsburg and Palmyra were not going to just be a walk in the park for us. We started on Wednesday night with Mechanicsburg and we knew we were going have to control the speed of the game because they love to slow down our offense. We were patient against their very tough defense and we also got out and ran like we like to do. We put all four quarters of intense defense and patient offense together and got the job done.
Friday was a very rigorous game against Palmyra and we knew we had to give it our all. It was a very physical game all around, but we took the lead early and didn’t look back. We battled in the post and played solid defense. Again, we won all four quarters resulting in a solid win with everyone on the team chipping in.
We need another big week of playing solid basketball. Next up we have Hershey and Lower Dauphin and we’re going to need two really good games of defense and timely scoring. The season is flying by and I just wanna cherish every moment we have left together as a team and play every game like it’s our last.
