We are getting deeper into the season and there’s not much time for preparing left. Just a couple more weeks and it’s time for sectionals.
This was a good week for the team in terms of prepping. We faced Harrisburg and had a close loss and wrestled at the York Suburban Trojan tournament on Saturday. Happy with the outcome, we left with numerous place-winners, four of which took first place. I was happy to not only extend my win record over the weekend, but I got a couple tough matches in to help me prepare and see what I really need to focus my time at practice on, before sectionals begin.
Next week is going to be busy, as we have a match on Tuesday against Kennard Dale, shortly followed by a match on Thursday against Red Land. Both are winnable as a team and I’m looking forward to getting in two more difficult matches to gauge myself and see where I need to improve. We are all excited and anxious for this long week, even though making weight both days won’t be the most fun for some of us.
Many of our kids are getting tired and starting to hurt, but if there’s one piece of advice I can give, it’s to set those thoughts of taking a break or resting aside and keep training hard. With the state tournament quickly approaching, we can’t afford to let off the gas now. We need to learn to be physically and mentally tough to finish out the season strong, and with some more wins.
