We are one week away from the state tournament and the stakes are higher than ever as it’s my senior year. Year after year, it’s been shown that anything can happen during this tournament and nothing that you’ve done during the season matters. Whether you are 5-10 or 15-0, if you wrestle your best, you can be a district qualifier. It’s time for everyone to clear their heads and focus on the weekend.
Part of my refocusing is adding in extra workouts. Whether it’s going for a run in the morning to shed some extra weight or adding in another lift after practice, everything I’m doing is in preparation for Saturday. With this routine, I know that my body is in the best shape that it can be to compete at a higher level. Doing so also aids me with getting in the correct mentality. It’s tough to keep your motivation high when we have three weeks off without competition, but your mind is a vital part of how you wrestle.
No matter what happens this weekend and however my season ends, I’m happy to have had such a great season with a record I can be proud of and being highly ranked in the district at multiple weights throughout the season. I’m hoping to have many members of our team wrestling in the district tournament.
