Karson Hastings In My Words

The start of our season was full of rain, snow and praying to get on the field. Everyone was super antsy to stop practicing and play some games.

This week was the first full week that we had been able to fit all of our games in, and it started off a little rocky. An early loss to Cumberland Valley 28-9 was upsetting, but as Coach McCoy said, “This is where we will see what team you are. Will you bounce back or let this defeat and define you?”

Luckily it didn’t and the next day we defeated Chambersburg 18-3. We have always been a team to pick each other up after a bad day because we are more than a team — we are family. That win set a tone for our next practice as we prepared for our rivalry game this past Thursday against Red Land, and enjoyed a team dinner full of pizza, laughs and dancing. Every year when this rivalry comes around each team feels an enormous amount of pressure to be the best in our school district, whether it be softball or any other sport.

When we reached Red Land we went through our usual warmups, and had enough time to play a quick round of knock-out volleyball in the outfield before the game started. Cedar Cliff won 18-1 after four innings.

This week we take the road to State College, Carlisle and play Shippensburg at home. With two away games there will be plenty of funny stories to talk about next week.
