At every level of every sport there are fans. It doesn’t matter if it’s golf, football or tennis, and it doesn’t matter if it’s youth, high school, college or professional — every level of every sport has fans.
As I sit here watching an intense football game between Oklahoma and Oklahoma State, I wonder why all the people at this game are so into their team. I am confused as to why I’m even intrigued by this game, since I don’t like either one of these teams.
At Trinity basketball and football games, there are many fans who cheer for us even though they didn’t go to Trinity or don’t have any relatives who go to or play for Trinity. Why are they so into the game and the team?
I’ve played in many games and I’ve also attended many games. There are certain teams that I love and there are certain teams that I strongly dislike. I believe the real reason we love sports is because of the impact it has on people. It brings fans together to support the team they love. No matter how old they are or what they’re like, it brings people together. It unites the fans with the team and is an important part of why teams play.
At Trinity we love our fans and we feed off their support and energy in every game we play. We give all we have every time we play and we know our fans will be behind us, no matter the outcome.
